Steady construction progress at Ravensmead CDC: Doors to open 2026

The construction of the new Ravensmead Community Day Centre (CDC) is on track, with doors set to open by mid-2026. Provincial Minister of Health and Wellness Mireille Wenger recently visited the site to access the progress of construction at the facility, which will replace the current clinic that can no longer meet the needs of the growing Ravensmead community.

Minister Wenger said, “When I was last here in January, I was impressed by the scale and vision of this new facility. Returning several months later, it is clear that tremendous time, effort, and resources have been invested, and steady progress has been made in the building of this beautiful new clinic. In fact, the facility is on schedule to open in mid 2026 should everything go as planned.”

The Minister was joined by the facility’s clinic committee, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand the progress made and what residents of Ravensmead can look forward to. “With this new clinic,” she added, “we will expand the range of services available to residents and ensure that care is accessible when and where it is needed.”

The new CDC will offer a wide range of services, including chronic and acute disease management, oral health and dental care, x-rays, a pharmacy, and much more. residents and school children.

Patient well-being has been placed at the centre of the design. Features include sheltered waiting areas for those arriving before opening hours and improved patient flow. The facility is also strategically located in Ravensmead’s central business district, making it easily accessible by public transport.

Once construction is complete, additional months will be needed to install equipment and prepare the facility. “When the clinic opens,” Minister Wenger explained, “there will be a settling-in period where both the community and staff can test the facility, identify challenges, and determine what additional resources are needed. We will adapt as we learn what works best.”

She also appealed to residents to take ownership of the new clinic, “This facility exists to support you, your loved ones, and the broader community on your health journey. We want to see it protected and cared for so it can serve generations to come. Please also be patient with staff as we navigate the early teething problems that will come with opening a new clinic.”

Minister Wenger highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects like the Ravensmead CDC for communities most in need, “Investing in modern, well-designed healthcare facilities is one of my key priorities. These projects not only improve access to vital services, but also play a critical role in reducing long queues and waiting times. By expanding infrastructure in communities like Ravensmead, we are building a stronger, more accessible healthcare system for all."
