Policy and Strategy: Overview

The Directorate Policy and Strategy co-ordinates policy activities within the Department and provides strategic support to the Head of Department.

Functions:

  • The provision of policy advice and co-ordination of policy activities relating to human settlements and local government..
  • The development of strategies to implement government policies in the Department and in municipalities.

Intergovernmental Policy Co-ordination

Intergovernmental Policy Co-ordination is responsible for:

  • The provision of policy advice.
  • The co-ordination policy initiatives within the Department
  • Contribution to policy initiatives in provincial and national government
  • Co-ordination ad hoc special investigations into policy issues

Strategic Support

Strategic Support aims to develop strategies to implement policies in the department and in municipalities.

It is responsible for:

  • Advising on the implementation of departmental policies and strategies
  • Advising on the alignment of government policies with departmental policies and strategies
  • Developing and maintain knowledge management system.
