The SARS-Cov-2 Antigen Rapid Testing for Health Care Providers training is designed to support point of care (POC) testing in South Africa, to:

  • Ensure efficient and timely testing for COVID-19 for both individual patient management and control of the pandemic at population level.
  • Equip the healthcare providers with sufficient knowledge to attend to quality issues, data management and reporting, IPC measures and correct management of waste.
  • Enable immediate patient care decisions and an increase in access to testing by individuals at risk of contracting the disease.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place, marking the opening of the Old Mutual COVID-19 vaccination site at Mutual Park, Old Mutual, Pinelands.

The private vaccination site will have an initial capacity of approximately 1 400 vaccinations per day, which will later be ramped up to approximately 3 000 vaccinations per day.

Premier Winde will be joined by Dr Louis Van Der Hoven, who will represent Netcare, the CEO of Old Mutual Limited, Iain Williamson, and the Minister of Economic Opportunities and Finance, David Maynier.
