Tourism plenaryThe Western Cape Tourism, Arts and Entertainment Partnership's Tourism Plenary Meeting took place on 18 October 2013 in Mossel Bay.

At the meeting Western Cape Minister for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde provided a status update on tourism in the Western Cape and urged members to make the most of opportunities around innovation, events management and marketing that will drive tourism over the next five years.

Roni Weiss, organiser of the New York Travel Festival gave an overview of the power of social media and how this can be harnessed to market a tourism festival.

Wesgro's new chief marketing officer, Judy Lain provided valuable insight into how to deal with brand damage and rebuilding a brand image.

Bekhitemba Langalibalele from the National Department of Tourism gave an introduction on Responsible Tourism and shared information on the progress achieved in the development of the National Minimum Standard for Responsible Tourism.

Joleen du Plessis sparked debate with her presentation on the Tourism Union of South Africa and unionism in the tourism industry.
