The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) partnered with Music Exchange to host Songwriting Competitions and Workshops in the Western Cape. Auditions will take place as follows:

  • Rheenendal in Knysna on 16 November 2018 – please see more information in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa;
  • Smutsville in Knysna on 17 November 2018 – please see more information in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa;
  • Beaufort West 23 and 24 November 2018 – please see more information in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa;
  • Artscape in Cape Town on 30 November and 1 December 2018 – please see more information in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa; and
  • Vredenburg on 7 and 8 December 2018 – please see more information in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa;

The good news is that the winners of the competition automatically gain access to six months’ mentorship by music industry professionals, a chance to participate at music conference and showcase, having one of your songs recorded and a chance to perform at music festivals.
