Nurses' Day - 13 May 2011

Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital spoiled their nursing staff during a special Nurses' Day celebration on 13 May 2011.

 

International Nurses' Day is held on 12 May in honour of Florence Nightingale's birthday. Florence Nightingale is credited as the founder of nursing.

On the day, Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital nurses were treated to healthy snacks, gifts and entertainment.

All of the attendees were given goodie bags.
 

Healthy snacks such as fruit and yoghurts were on the day's menu.
 

Both sessions of the event were well attended.
 

Before sitting down, nurses helped themselves to beverages and snacks.
 

Nurses enjoy the jovial atmosphere at the event.
 

The symbolic nurses' lamp and candle were lit during the event.
 

A candle is lit for the reciting of the nurses' pledge.
 

Red Cross War Memorial CEO Dr Lungi Linda reminded the nurses of the significance of the day and their role in healthcare.
