Library Week 2013

Library Week

Library Week is an exciting event that has been celebrated since 1965 in the third week of March. The celebration helps to support the national drive to promote literacy through the provision of library and information services.

This year, the Western Cape Library Service has organised a range of activities in partnership with local authorities. The overall aim is to promote the use of library materials, to cultivate a growing culture of reading, and to open doors by providing information services and resources.

Libraries offer a safe place to read, study and do research. They also help job hunters by providing access to career information.

Joining your local library will enable you to access a variety of services as well as books, CDs, DVDs and the Internet. Libraries also offer a wide range of events for the education and entertainment of children and adults alike.

The theme for Library Week 2013 is Educate yourself @ your library.
