Get connected at the Herbertsdale WCG eCentre

Herbertsdale is a quaint settlement nestled in the Garden Route District Municipality. This village, located east of the Gourits River in the Langtou Valley and 56 kilometers northwest of Mossel Bay, was established in 1865 on the farm Hemelrood. It was named after James Benton Herbert, the owner of a portion of this farm. Over the years, Herbertsdale has seen significant growth, especially in housing projects, with the latest completed in 2018.

Agriculture forms the backbone of Herbertsdale’s economy, with most residents either living or working on farms within the community. Like any other small community, Herbertsdale faces several challenges, including housing, water, electricity, roads, transport, health services, education, social grants and childcare facilities.

When the Herbertsdale WCG eCentre was established, it was very instrumental in addressing some of these needs. Opened on 27 September 2017, the eCentre is located within the Herbertsdale Public Library. It provides services to the community and saves them the trouble of travelling over 50 kilometres to access basic administrative services. The eCentre, among many other services, provides assistance with social grants, eFiling registrations and email important documents.

Herbertsdale WCG eCentre, provides services to about 20-30 people daily, 70-120 weekly and 250-400 monthly visitors. The eCentre prides itself on helping people succeed. They’ve supported university graduates from their application processes to their graduation ceremonies and they’ve also helped trainees secure job opportunities both within and outside the community.
