Policy 2022 WCG Policy on the Adobe Reader E-Signature Provincial Transversal This short transversal policy requires all departments to utilise the Adobe Reader signature, in order to facilitate a common approach in the WCG and complement the existing transversal Policy on Ordinary and Electronic signatures in the Western Cape Government, 2017.

Policy 2020 Western Cape Department of Social Development ERM Policy for 2020-2025 Provincial DSD Specific The purpose of this document is to articulate the Department’s risk management philosophy and appetite. The Department recognizes that risk management is a systematic and formalised process to identify, assess, manage and monitor risks and therefore adopts a comprehensive approach to the management of risk.  The Department embraces intelligent risk taking and recognizes that risk can have both positive and negative consequences.  Risks will be managed in a way that effectively manage potential opportunities and adverse effects to the Department.

Policy 2019 Western Cape Department of Social Development e-Mobility Policy, August 2019 Provincial DSD Specific The purpose of this policy is to regulate and standardize the practices and procedures for the acquisition, use, termination of use and disposal of data cards in the DSD in order to enable the Accounting Officer and Management of the DSD to manage this essential service in a cost-effective and well-governed manner.

Policy 2017 Department of Social Development Policy on Social Development Services to Persons with Disabilities National Transversal The purpose of this document is to guide and coordinate the provision of mainstreamed social development services to Persons with Disabilities.  Its aim is to ensure that the dignity and rights of all Persons with disabilities is preserved and met, through the provision of relevant socio-economic programmes and services that ensure their inclusion.

Policy 2011 Department of Social Development Policy on Financial Awards To Service Providers (2011) National Transversal The purpose of this policy is aimed at guiding the country’s response to the financing of service providers in the social development sector, to facilitate transformation and redirection of services and resources, and to ensure effective and efficient services to the poor and vulnerable sectors of society.
Policy 2011 Policy and Procedure on Incapacity Leave and ILL-Health Retirement (PILIR) National Transversal The purpose of this policy is to:
• To adopt a holistic approach to health risk management by seeking synergies with wellness and disease management programmes provided by employees’ medical schemes and by implementing sick leave management as well as rehabilitation and re-skilling structures in conjunction with health risk management.
• To prevent abuse of sick leave by managing incapacity of ill-health as far as possible.
• To adopt a scientific approach to health risk management based on sound medical, actuarial and legal principles.

Policy 2009 National Youth Policy 2009 -2014 National Transversal The purpose of the National Youth Policy is to intentionally enhance the capacities of young people through addressing their needs, promoting positive outcomes, and providing integrated coordinated package of services, opportunities, choices, relationship and support necessary for holistic development of all young people particularly those outside the social, political and economic mainstream.
Policy 2008 Western Cape Government IT End-User Policy Provincial Transversal The purpose of this policy is to ensure the proper use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) assets of the Provincial Government of the Western Cape (PGWC). The policy applies to any ICT asset the PGWC has or may install in the future – including, but not limited to, e-mail, Internet, mobile data-cards and desktop computing. Users have a responsibility to use ICT assets in an efficient, effective, ethical and lawful manner.
Policy 2006 Directives on the Usage of Departmental Property and Resources for Funeral and Memorial Services Provincial Transversal The purpose of this policy is to provide directives on the use of Departmental Property and Resources to attend, arrange and fund funerals and memorial services of family members and colleagues within the province and outside of the parameters of the Western Cape.
Policy 2005 South African Policy For Older Persons (2005) National Transversal The purpose of this policy on older persons is to ensure that quality services to older persons are accessible, affordable, comprehensive and equitable. It further seeks to create an enabling environment to older persons living in the community and within facilities.
Policy 2001 Western Cape Language Policy (2001) Provincial Transversal The purpose of this policy:
• To promote the use of the three official languages of the Western Cape, namely Afrikaans, isiXhosa and English, by the provincial and local governments of the Western Cape.
• To elevate the status and advance the use of those indigenous languages of historically diminished status used by the people of the Western Cape, such as the Khoi and San languages.
• To support the Batho Pele initiative of impartial service delivery by promoting equal access to public services and programmes by removing communication or language barriers.
• To give increasing effect to the equal constitutional status of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Provincial Transversal The purpose of this policy is to guide the procurement processes of the government of the Western Cape and to address historical imbalances by ensuring fair processes in the allocation of tenders and procurement from a broad pool in the spectrum of goods and services.
Policy 1998 Population Policy for South Africa (1998) National Transversal The objectives of the policy are:
• To enhance the quality of life of the people through the systematic integration of the population factors into all policies, plans, programmes and strategies at all levels and within all sectors and institutions of government.
• Developing and implementing a coordinated, multi-sectoral, interdisciplinary and integrated approach in designing and executing programmes and interventions that impact on major national population concerns.

• Guide and inform the mainstreaming of disability through developing and implementing departmental policies, strategies and integrated service delivery programmes.
• Facilitate the provision of integrated social services to people with disabilities.
• To provide guidance to the department in terms of addressing social barriers that exclude People with Disabilities, which impede full and equitable integration and inclusion into mainstream society.
