Cape Online – Where our e-Government Strategy Began
Cape Online was the name given to the e-Government strategy (pdf, 122MB) as adopted by the Western Cape Government in 2001. The initiative or programme was multi-dimensional and the vision was to develop an innovative environment facilitating a competitive knowledge-based economy promoting economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for our people.
We are focused on delivery of value to all stakeholders:
- The Cape Online Symposium was held in September 2001 and allowed all public sector organisations an opportunity to communicate online projects, share experiences and lessons, as well as identify opportunities for future collaborations and partnerships. View the summary document of the Cape Online Symposium (pdf, 578kb)
- Initial research to inform the design and development of e-government services (pdf, 697kb) is an e-Government Services research project by the City of Cape Town and the Western Cape Government.
- Discussion on the narrow issue of copyright vesting in material published on Cape Gateway (pdf, 150KB).
