Application for restoration to SANC register during COVID-19

2021
(Western Cape Government)
Summary

Application for restoration to the South African nursing council [SANC] register during the period of the COVID-19 national state of disaster

Qualifying nurses that are no longer registered but wish to assist with the pandemic cannot apply individually for the restoration process, as all applications will be made via the Department of Health.

To strengthen health services during the COVID-19 pandemic, the South African Nursing Council (SANC) has made a special concession for nurses who are no longer registered with the Council to apply to be restored to the register, for the duration of the declared National State of Disaster, at no restoration cost.

This concession is for the sole purpose of assisting with COVID-19 prevention and or treatment and will lapse upon the end of the National State of Disaster.

This applies to all qualifying nurses including retired nurses. The qualifying nurses that wish to assist with the vaccination campaign will undergo a 3-hour comprehensive Covid-19 vaccine training podcast.

Nurses are therefore requested to complete the simplified restoration form  and email to Mr Sikhumbuzo Gangala at  Sikhumbuzo.Gangala@westerncape.gov.za on or before 28 July 2021

At the end of the National State of Disaster, these nurses’ names will then be removed from the register and the normal restoration process and fees will then apply for those who choose to remain in order to practice nursing.
