2017/18 Cultural Affairs Awards

(Western Cape Government)

The Cultural Affairs Awards of the Western Cape are hosted annually by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) to recognise and celebrate the cultural, linguistic and heritage excellence in the province. The occasion is a vital opportunity to proudly showcase the diversity of the province’s cultural landscape.

During 2017 DCAS has extended an invitation to the general public to nominate individuals (residing in the Western Cape) who have excelled and made a difference in one or more of the Cultural Affairs categories; and in the process, made a substantial contribution towards the Western Cape Government realizing its strategic objectives.

Nominations for the 2017/18 Cultural Affairs Awards were selected by the public and the winners, selected by a panel of experts, were announced by the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport in March 2018. The nominating period closed towards the end of 2017.
