Talent Identification at Netball Tournament

The annual regional club development tournament provided hundreds of netball players with the opportunity to showcase their talent. The tournament was the result of a partnership between the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, the Western Province Netball Union (WPNU) and other entities and took place at the Bellville netball courts on Saturday, 6 October 2012.

The aim of the tournament was to identify talented netball players and coaches that could be invited to the Western Province Academy. These players and coaches were also evaluated throughout the tournament and they receive feedback.

A total of 280 players representing 20 teams in the Metro region competed at the tournament. Ms Nonceba Mpashe of the Sport Promotion Directorate: Club Development is confident that this tournament contributed significantly to the development of netball players. It provided the Western Province Netball Academy with the opportunity to identify suitable talent.
