Government to Deliver a New Home of Football for Central Karoo Region

14 February 2006
In a demonstration of commitment to service delivery, MEC Jacobs will hand over an upgraded sport facility, the Rustdene stadium, to the Central Karoo region at a fitting function on Saturday February 18, 2006.

The hand-over of Rustdene stadium dubbed the "Home of Football" for the Central Karoo region follows the completion of an upgrading process which began in mid-2004. The stadium is one of 28 sport and recreation facilities identified in 10 district municipalities at a cost of almost R11m. The stadium will be home to dozens of soccer clubs in that region.

Meanwhile, school sport in Beaufort West will receive a major boost when the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport on Friday February 17, 2006, will do a sod-turning ceremony symbolising the commencement of the construction of a multi-purpose field at Dlikidla Primary School at KwaMandlenkosi. Dlikidla Primary is one of seven schools the Department had committed to upgrade its sport facilities before the end of this financial year. The multi-purpose field will cater for athletics, rugby and soccer for the cluster.
