Condolences to Mackenzie Family

1 April 2006
"We have learnt with great shock the untimely death of a promising and rising local rugby player, Immanuel Mackenzie, who apparently collapsed and died during a rugby match yesterday. On behalf of the Western Cape government we wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Mackenzie family, especially to our comrade and colleague in the Provincial legislature, Patrick Mackenzie who fathered Immanuel. The pain of losing a son at such a tender age particularly when he was still in such a great shape physically and emotionally will be extremely difficult to endure and we pray God the Almighty to give Mackenzie family comfort and strength during this moment of loss and sadness. Immanuel Mackenzie was a rising star who played his game with great distinction, earning himself a bursary to study and play rugby for the University of Cape Town. His family should take pride in the fact that their beloved son, Immanuel dedicated his life whole to sport. We urge the South African youth to emulate the example that Immanuel has set - total dedication to sport" - Whitey Jacobs
