Provincial Event for Freedom Day

This is a reminder that the Provincial Government, in colloboration with Malibongwe Women's Movement, will celebrate the Freedom Day at Athlone Civic Centre. The programme will focus on the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Women's March against the pass laws. Speakers will include Premier of the Western Cape, Ebrahim Rasool, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Montomnbaza Botha and other prominent leaders. MEC Jacobs says, "As government we acknowledge with great appreciation the struggles of our women against the oppressive laws and we want to give them this platform to bring to the fore their new struggles and challenges so that they, too, can face a better tommorrow as equal citizens."

The programme will be interspersed with music and cultural events.
