12 January 2009
The Learning Cape Festival, an annual event since 2002 aims to promote a culture of lifelong learning. In 2008, the focus was on 'inspiring learning' through various creative and innovative means. One of the projects within the festival was the Red Bull Competition - a song and rap competition where learners could stand the chance of winning a music studio experience with South Africa's best local artists, producers and engineers.

The Learning Cape and Red Bull is currently hosting a music experience from 14 to 16 January 2009 for the 3 talented learners who won the competition. These learners, Tisetso Nokane a 17 year old, matric pupil from Worcester and Rochelle Veronica Widskut and Mpulelo Ngondo, 16 year old grade 10 learners from Worcester and Beaufort West respectively, are currently attending a 3 day workshop at the Red Bull music studios in Cape Town where they stand a chance to record their own songs, get radio play and walk out with their own song on a compact disc. MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport, Cameron Dugmore, will attend the workshop on Thursday 15 January 2009 at 10 am to show support for rising talent and youth development in the music industry.
