MEC Sakkie Jenner to Launch Riaan Loots Campaign

The Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs, Sport and Recreation, Mr Sakkie Jenner and his department will this weekend be launching the second phase of its Riaan Loots Campaign in the Wilderness near George. The Campaign will be run in conjunction with the South Western District Sport Council.

The launch also coincides with SWD Rugby's Provincial Club Championships finals, which will take place on Saturday 29 August.

'In the light of recent incidents of rugby violence in the area, which has somewhat tarnished the reputation of rugby, my Department and I have made a concerted effort to, through this campaign, educate sportsmen and women, as well as their supporters about good sportsmanship.'

According to Minister Jenner 'this campaign is as significant to sport, as sport is about fair, clean and honest participation'.

The Riaan Loots Campaign is about 'sport which is free from violence and injury'.
