Media Alert: Ivan Meyer and Tim Noakes to Hand over Kit for WP Transplant Athletes

5 June 2011

On Monday, 6 June 2011, Dr Ivan Meyer, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport in the Western Cape, and Professor Tim Noakes, will be handing over the official kit colours to the Western Province Transplant Sports Association athletes, who will be representing South Africa at the World Transplant Games.

The 18th World Transplant Games will be taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 17 to 24 June 2011, and this evening's event will see the team receiving their official kit and colours. The next World Transplant Games will be held in 2013 in Durban, South Africa.

For over 20 years, the World Transplant Games Federation has been staging international sporting events for transplant athletes in order to demonstrate the physical success of transplant surgery and to raise awareness of the need to increase organ donation. The World Transplant Games Federation is officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

Date: Monday, 6 June 2011
Time: 18:00
