Active participation at 2018 Metro Better Together Games

29 October 2018

The sweltering heat could not dampen the enthusiasm of staff members from the 13 Western Cape Government departments who attended the Metro Better Together Games on Friday, 26 October 2018. The games are an annual event hosted by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, in partnership with Old Mutual, Nedbank and Peninsula Beverages.

The day started with the march-past where all the departments could showcase their individual colours and team spirit. The crowd was then addressed by Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, before Premier Helen Zille officially opened the games. The Premier also set the fun runners off on their 6km route.

Teams and individuals competes in various sporting codes, such as tug-of-war, volleyball, netball, soccer, chess and dominoes. The day offered Western Cape Government staff the opportunity to get active but also to spend time with staff members from other departments.

DCAS encourages employees to use sport as a tool for team spirit. Let’s invest in our general well-being and improve our potential and corporate productivity, BETTER TOGETHER.
