Staff from the different Western Cape Government departments, as well as from the local municipalities, took part in the Cape Winelands Better Together Games on Friday 12 October 2018. The games were hosted by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), in partnership with Old Mutual, Nedbank, Peninsula Beverages and Breede Valley Municipality.
Despite the chilly wind and clouds, participants brought team spirit and friendly competition to the day. Participating in activities such as the popular fun walk, a potjiekos competition and march-past, staff showed their excitement and did their departments proud!
Sports codes represented on the day included rugby, cricket, netball, chess, darts and pool. Staff who took part in the various codes had no shortage of encouragement from colleagues who cheered them on from the side-lines.
Reggie Farao from the Breede Valley Municipality welcomed all to the event, while the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, officially opened the games and encouraged all to enjoy the games. Minister Marais thanked everyone for attending the games despite the cold weather.
The next Better Together Games will take place at the Vredenburg Sports Grounds in the West Coast on 19 October 2018.
The Western Cape Government supports the Better Together Games. Be part of the activities and support your colleagues. Let us all participate and work at getting fit and healthy BETTER TOGETHER.
