Promoting Olympic values in the West Coast

10 September 2018

On Thursday 6 September 2018 the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport hosted an Olympic roadshow which was held at St. Helena Primary School in St. Helena Bay as part of the 2018 Olympic roadshows.

Approximately 140 learners from St. Helena Primary School participated in various activities such as dance sport and a presentation on the values of the Olympics. They also took part in a discussion on bullying and its effects on students. The guest speaker was South African Paralympic gold medallist, Hilton Langenhoven. He gave a motivational talk and encouraged learners to strive for greatness through dedication in life, sport and education.

The Olympic roadshows aim to maintain people’s interest in sport. It encourages them to practise sport, while promoting the Olympic values. The next roadshow will take place on 11 September 2018 in Nyanga, Cape Town.

Let us continue to support the youth in their endeavours to try and combat social ills through sport and recreation in the Western Cape, BETTER TOGETHER.
