On 14 August 2018, members of the Genealogical Society of South Africa (GSSA) paid a visit to the Archives and Records Service (WCARS) in Cape Town.
The society published the journal “Familia” which dates from 1965 to 2014. They donated digital and print copies of the journal to the WCARS after a tour through the building in Roeland Street.
Ms Nikiwe Momoti, Director for WCARS welcomed the donation and said it will supplement the existing archives.
The GSSA was established in 1964 and has twelve branches throughout the country. The society conducts family history research for families and provide guidance to amateur researchers.
The WCARS connects people to their communities and family histories. Through learning about the importance of preserving our documented history, we may understand and appreciate each other BETTER TOGETHER.
