Holiday Fun with the Western Cape Library Service

14 July 2017

With the school holidays upon us, the Western Cape Library Service kicked off their holiday programme at the Oppie Berg Mini Library in Ceres on 5 July 2017.

One hundred learners from the area attended the day-long programme which included various activities such as face painting, building puzzles and story-telling.

Leaners were also treated to classic animated movies such as Winnie the Pooh and the Three Little Bears.

One of the main aims of the programme is to promote reading as a fun and interesting activity. ”The purpose of the holiday programme is to entice learners to their library and to keep them busy and off the streets during holiday time,” said Hoeda Salaam, the project manager.

The Library Service mascot Bhuki interacted with the young ones, and ensured tons of excitement throughout the day. The next programme will take place at Manenberg Library on 18 July.

DCAS is committed to creating and building informed and knowledgeable communities BETTER TOGETHER.
