Team Western Cape performs well at Day 1 of Winter Games

The National School Sport Championships Winter Games is currently taking place in Durban. This school sport programme is a key element in pursuing the vision of the Department of Sport and Recreation South Africa of broadening the base of South African sport.

Team Western Cape, accompanied by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport’s Sport Development Directorate, is competing at the Games. The team was selected through a controlled league program where various school learners competed against each other and progressed from local, circuit, district and provincial levels in order to qualify.

After the first day Imad Khan, who plays in the u/14 Hockey Boys team, said he enjoyed the day and he was happy with the team’s two clean sheets. Portia Dyantyi from the u/15 Girls Rugby team said she was happy with her team’s win but that they can still perform better.
