Tomorrow, 17 March 2017, the Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, will officially launch the 2017 Zabalaza Theatre Festival at the Baxter Theatre Centre.
Esteemed as the leading developmental festival, the Zabalaza Theatre Festival will this year showcase 56 different productions, affording 300 emerging artists from across the Western Cape the platform to perform their creative products.
In 2016, the festival won a special Fleur Du Cap award for Innovation in Theatre for their phenomenal contribution to the development of new South African work by providing a platform for artists who want to venture into acting, stage management, writing and directing.
The Zabalaza Theatre Festival will take place from 18 – 25 March 2017 when all the venues and spaces in the Baxter Theatre Comtre will pulsate with dynamic and assorted artistic activities, with daily performances, performed in 6 different languages.
