Aspiring artists given opportunity to work on "Kaapse Jol" production

15 December 2016

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), in collaboration with the Baxter theatre, has given three young people the opportunity to work as interns in Alistair Izobell’s “Kaapse Jol” production.

The three, Neo Anthony from Langa, Jaqueta Bedeker from Crawford and Isithandile Matshoba from Observatory, will have the opportunity to be exposed to the world of theatre production, stage management, performance, sound and lighting under the guidance of Alistair and the Baxter theatre crew. They will be working on the production until 12 January 2017, and will have the opportunity to get some practical experience in order to eventually pursue a career in the creative industry.

“Kaapse Jol” is currently showing at the Baxter theatre until 14 January 2017.

DCAS supports young people who want to get involved in the creative industry. Parents and communities should support their children to get involved in initiatives such as these. Let us support our youth to become the stars of tomorrow BETTER TOGETHER.
