Media Alert: Minister Marais to honour 33 Western Cape Sport Legends

On Wednesday, 14 December 2016, the Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Minister Anroux Marais, will honour 33 sporting legends at an event in Paarl.

The Sport Legends awards are held annually by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport to honour sporting legends who contributed to the development and growth of sport in the province and in the country. Legends are over 50 years of age and are nominated according to criteria such as their contributions to transformation in sport.

This is the 12th year that these awards will be presented and legends in sporting codes such as softball, lawn bowls, karate and equestrian sport will be honoured.
