Media Alert: Premier Zille to Launch Gugulethu/Manenberg Youth Safe-Hub

Tomorrow, 17 May 2016, Premier Helen Zille will officially launch the Gugulethu/Manenberg Youth Safe-Hub.

The Safe-Hub forms part of the greater Youth Lifestyle Campus development in the area, and is located opposite the Nyanga Junction train station.

The hub will include a brand new soccer pitch and Training Academy, Life-Skills programmes, Academic Tutoring, and Work Readiness training. Youth will also have full access to internet facilities in an on-site Youth Café, run by the Social Development Department.

At least 2 500 young people from Gugulethu and Manenberg will benefit from these state-of-the-art facilities and programmes.

The hub will be hosted on the grounds of Intshukumo Secondary School, as part of our After Schools Game Changer. The Western Cape Government is partnering with the City of Cape Town, AMANDLA EduFootball, the Oliver Kahn Foundation and other stakeholders to operate the Safe-Hub.

Premier Zille will be joined by Community Safety Minister, Dan Plato, Social Development Minister, Albert Fritz and the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais.

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
