On Tuesday evening, 24 November 2015, Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, accompanied by Western Province rugby players and members of the local community, embarked on the last leg of her water safety campaign by cleaning up Monwabisi Beach in Khayelitsha.
The Minister along with the rugby players, kitted with gloves and refuse bags, braved the wind and engaged with community members on water safety tips. Minister Marais said, “The clean-up was the epitome of Better Together because in no time, with the help of the WP rugby team, government officials and family and friends from the community we ensured a safer coastal area in which the community can enjoy the summer days to come.”
