On Sunday, 22 November 2015, the Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, will together with community members, plant trees at an initiation site in Nyanga .
The cultural practice of initiation is a sacred rite of passage for young boys in our communities. It is for this reason that Minister Marais has donated 20 trees to be planted along the boundaries of an initiation site, in order to enable the necessary privacy the practice of initiation requires.
