New ICT Facility Unlocks More Opportunities For The People Of Buffeljagsrivier

16 November 2015

Songs and performances from different schools and groups ensured a variety of entertainment at the opening of the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facility at the Buffeljagsrivier library.

On Friday 13 November 2015 the Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, officially opened the ICT facility with free internet access at the library. The facility forms part of the Western Cape Government’s Broadband Initiative project.

The day’s events received added flavour in the form of singing and poetry performances by St John’s Primary, Mullersrus Primary, Buffeljagsrivier Primary’s senior choir, Buffeltjies Crèche and the Silwerkruin Old Age Club. They all took to the stage and entertained their audience with their respective items.

The deputy mayor, Councillor Carelse, welcomed everyone present and thanked each person for the time they had sacrificed to be there. Minister Marais encouraged everyone to make full use of the opportunities offered by this new facility. “It is wonderful to be here today at the official opening of the ICT facility. It has free internet access and I am asking and encouraging each of you to make optimal use of the facility,” she said.

Our Libraries offer communities the opportunity to access technology to access services. Communities should support their local libraries and make use of the facilities available to them. Let us build well-read, knowledgeable communities BETTER TOGETHER.
