Cultural Affairs Awards 2015/16: Call for Nominations Extended
The deadline to nominate local culture heroes for the Cultural Affairs Awards has been extended to 16 October 2015.
The awards are held annually to celebrate individuals and organisations in the Western Cape who are making a positive contribution in the Cultural Affairs sector. Awards have previously been given to organisations and individuals who have made a profound impact within the Arts, Culture, Language, Heritage, Museums, Archives, Geographical Names and Libraries sectors in the province over the years.
The Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais said “The Western Cape has a diverse and rich culture that must be nurtured and celebrated. It is important that we acknowledge and celebrate the individuals and organisations that are doing us proud. They are building a foundation for the generations to come”.
Nominations for the awards are currently open. Members of the public who wish to nominate an individual or an organisation for an award, can obtain nomination forms via the department’s website at http://www.westerncape.gov.za/dept/cas
The Cultural Affairs Awards ceremony will take place in February 2016.
