Media Alert: Minister Mbombo to Launch 48 Hours Cultural Affairs Awards Poster

10 September 2014

Tomorrow, 11 September 2014, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, will launch the 48 Hours Cultural Affairs Awards poster that will go up on street poles around the city and surrounds.

These awards are an opportunity for us to also acknowledge and showcase the diversity of the Western Cape’s cultural landscape.

The very first Cultural Affairs Awards ceremony was hosted in 1999, and has since been held by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) as an annual event hosted by the Minister.

Awards have been given to organisations and individuals who have made a profound impact within the Arts, Culture, Language, Heritage, Museums, Archives, Geographical Names and Libraries sectors in the province over the years.

Minister Mbombo will put up the very first 48 Hours poster and will encourage the people of the Western Cape to nominate their local cultural heroes.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.

Date:  Thursday, 11 September 2014
Time:  14:00
Venue: Green Market Square, street pole outside the Protea Assurance Building, Cape Town
