Media Alert: Science, Technology and Sport Conference in Stellenbosch

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport will be hosting the Science, Technology and Sport conference in partnership with Stellenbosch University from 12 to 14 March 2014. The target audience is coaches and administrators who are engaged in talent identification and high-performance sport development.

The event will begin with practical demonstrations of technology which supports on-field training at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport. This will be followed on the second and third day by academic presentations at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) by representatives of the four Western Cape universities.

It is expected that members of the target audience will emerge with a clearer understanding of how recent advances in science and technology can help them develop the abilities of promising athletes in the Western Cape.
