Successful Sport Transformation Indaba Held in Cape Town

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport hosted a successful Sport Transformation Indaba in Cape Town on 8 March 2014. The conference brought together a total of 90 delegates from all over the Western Cape.

The Chairperson of the Transformation and Monitoring Committee Mr Arthur Cowley facilitated an interactive discussion with civil society representatives about the true meaning of transformation in sport in the Western Cape.

Vice President of the Western Province Sports Council Mr JP Naude presented a system to assist federations to monitor and evaluate progress towards transformation in their sport codes.

President of the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation Goliath Munro closed the event by noting that the Indaba would be followed up with a series of roadshows over two months. The roadshows would inform sport federation members about the elements and importance of the Transformation Charter on Sport in the Western Cape.
