MOD Softball Teams Sharpen their Skills

2 March 2014

Top softball players from Mass participation; Opportunity and access; Development and growth (MOD) Centres in the Western Cape gathered at Turfhall Softball Stadium on 1 March 2014 to play a series of matches.

The event was a “Sharp centre” focused development opportunity for talented players. Coaches were on hand to give participants a helping hand and also shout some encouraging words from the sidelines. Softball curriculum developer Zeona Dearham said: “It was a good experience for the learners. They approached the games with enthusiasm and learned a lot.”

The event served as preparation for a schools softball tournament to take place on Human Rights Day, 21 March. The event coincides with the senior national provincial championships that take place at the same venue from 19 to 21 March. The senior event will be an excellent opportunity for MOD learners to learn by watching some of South Africa’s best players.
