Stage Set for Drama Groups at Suidoosterfees

30 January 2014

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) will host the Eden/ Cape Winelands Drama Festival finale at the Artscape Arena Hall in Cape Town on Friday, 31 January 2014 from 12:00. The best group of the festival will present its stage production on Sunday, 2 February at 12:00.

The festival is an annual showcase at the Suidoosterfees for emerging talents to present their work on stage. It also aims to share local stories and to promote community theatre groups. DCAS hosted regional drama festivals in Eden and Cape Winelands last year, and the two winners from each district represent their regions at the Suidoosterfees.

Through the staging of this festival, DCAS and its partners are promoting and developing local drama groups and providing opportunities for the best to perform on the professional stage. Today’s showcase will be free of charge, while Sunday’s winning stage production costs R40 at Computicket.
