Media Alert: Western Cape Government Rewards MOD Centre Learners

On Thursday, 28 November 2013, Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport , Dr Ivan Meyer will host an event to recognise eight Mass Participation, Opportunity and Access, Development and Growth (MOD) Centre learners, who following their participation in the MOD programme at the MOD Centres at their respective schools and a process of talent identification and medical screening, have been awarded sport bursaries to enter into the Western Cape Sport School in 2014.

The contribution of the MOD Programme was recently acknowledged by the National Government when The MOD programme walked away with the accolade, Best Project: Mass Participation at the National EPWP Komoso Awards (Social Sector). 48% of the current learners at the Western Cape Sport School already have attained provincial colours in sport.
