Western Cape Government to Honour Top Entrepreneurs

The Western Cape’s top entrepreneurs will be recognised at the second Premier’s Entrepreneurship Recognition Awards taking place tonight, 20 November 2014.

The overall winner receives a R50 000 cash prize and an all-expenses paid trip to represent the province at an  international entrepreneurship congress or trade fair, worth R100 000. Other category winners will receive prize money of R90 000.

Premier Helen Zille and the Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, will announce the winning entrepreneurs at a ceremony at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Minister Winde said this formed part of a campaign to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in the province, and to give deserving entrepreneurs the chance to grow their businesses and create jobs for fellow citizens.

The categories include:

• Emerging business

• Established business

• Social enterprise

• Green business

• Best innovative student idea
