28 October 2014

better living challenge showcaseOn Thursday, 30 October, Premier Helen Zille, Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde and Minster of Human Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela, will officially launch the Better Living Challenge Showcase at the Cape Town Station Forecourt.

The Better Living Challenge is a three-year project initiated by the Western Cape Government’s 110% Green initiative and managed by the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI). The Better Living Challenge (WDC#204) has been recognised as an official project of the Cape Town World Design Capital 2014 better living challenge showcase(WDC2014) programme. WDC is promoting design for social benefit and upliftment; the Challenge fits well with these aims.

Over 130 entries were received during the entry phase and the finalists and exhibitors chosen by a panel of 47 selectors will now be displayed to the public at the Better Living Challenge Showcase at the Cape Town Station. The event will run from Tuesday 28 October until Saturday 8 November.

This will then be followed by the final judging phase where winners will be chosen and announced towards the end of November. Competition winners will be provided with support to help them commercialise their idea or product.
