Women Contractors Benefit from Atlantis Housing Project

11 October 2012

Women contractors have completed 60 units of the WEHBSO People's Housing Process (PHP) Project in Atlantis, Cape Town. Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will deliver the keynote address, and hand over completion certificates to the three women contractors and to some of the 60 housing beneficiaries. The oldest beneficiary will be 63-year-old Ms Nombuyiseni Mtululu. Beneficiaries will also assist in the planting of trees to green their properties.

The WEHBSO project, which stands for Witsands Eco Housing Beneficiary Support Organisation project, delivered 500 units, cost R37.1 million, began in May 2011 and was completed in June 2012.

The Women’s Build Initiative is aimed to strengthen the involvement of women contractors from Atlantis within the building industry.
