On Thursday, 15 October 2019, Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will engage the leadership of the Qolweni community about the ongoing housing issues in the Bitou Municipal area.
This Municipality has on more than one occasion accused the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements of delaying the implementation of this project. This is completely misleading and quite frankly false.
Minister Simmers said: “I’m looking forward to this meeting, so that the precise facts can be placed on record and to dispel all inaccuracies that are currently being promoted in the public arena. All misrepresentations will be corrected.
The human settlements portfolio is a concurrent function, provincially and it is vital that prolific intergovernmental relations between province and local authorities exist, so that our people can optimally benefit. As the Western Cape Government, we remain committed to improving the lives of our residents.”
There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs. Those unable to attend can also follow proceedings live on Minister Simmers’ Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/HumanMinWC
ALL MEDIA ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
