Minister to engage Cape Agulhas Municipality and handover houses in Bredasdorp

Today, Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Tertuis Simmers will engage the Cape Agulhas Municipality.

Accompanied by his senior executive officials, Minister Simmers will engage the executive Mayor, along with the MAYCO members in the municipal chamber, while the rest of the council members will join virtually.

The engagement will be followed by handing over 35 houses, to beneficiaries in Areas F and H in Bredasdorp.

Minister Simmers said: “Today’s engagement will allow us the opportunity to present the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements’ funding model, so that council members have a clear understanding of our processes.

I am particularly looking forward to handing over houses to deserving and qualifying beneficiaries, as it’s a demonstration of our continued commitment, to ensure that houses were completed at an accelerated pace, so that handovers can urgently take place.

These new homes will undoubtedly assist in combatting COVID-19, as it will strengthen social distancing, while also helping to improve hygiene practices.

Area F, which as a budget of over R65,2 million and commenced in October 2018, is set to yield 569 top structures. Area H, which has an allocation of more than R22,9 million commenced in March 2019. This site is expected to yield 158 top structures.
