30 September 2019

Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Tertuis Simmers, says the handover of 248 title deeds and 444 houses, just for the month of September, is a clear demonstration of the provincial government’s commitment to accelerating housing opportunities and ownership across the province.

Title Deed handovers occurred in Delft (18) in the City of Cape Town, in Caledon (120) and Tesselaarsdal (77) in the Theewaterskloof municipal area and Ebenhaeser (33) in the Matzikama municipal area.

Houses were handed over in Forest Village (109), which is in Eerste River, Highbury (104) in Kuilsriver, which is inclusive of 18 houses for Military Veterans, along with the Cape Agulhas (11) – and Theewaterskloof (220) municipal areas.

Minister Simmers said: “I’m pleased with the pace at which we are moving. These handovers clearly show that we’re not paying lip service in our aim to improve the lives of our people. Our strategy is clear and we are effectively executing it. It is through processes such as these that the dignity of our people is restored.

As the Western Cape Government, we remain committed to accelerating human settlement delivery, while promoting social inclusion through the development of integrated, resilient and sustainable human settlements in an open opportunity society.”
