Department of Human Settlements Delivers Title Deeds To Delft Residents

10 December 2018

Residents in Delft became proud home owners on Monday 3 December 2018 when they received their title deeds from Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela and ward councillors in the area.

A total of 60 beneficiaries received their Title Deeds, of which 29 are pensioners.

Minister Madikizela handed over the title deeds as part of the Department’s strategic goals to prioritise the elderly with housing opportunities. The handing over title deeds also gives people a sense of pride and joy that they are owners of the property they live in.

The handover forms part of the Department’s Enhanced Extended Discount Benefit Scheme (EEDBS) programme. The EEDBS programme supports the transfer of pre-1994 housing stock to qualifying occupants.

Addressing the residents, Minister Madikizela said; “Now that you have received your title deed you are a homeowner. Look after this document and your home.”

He added; “We (The Department) are doing three things by handing over these title deeds. Restoring your dignity, fast tracking the delivery of title deeds and making you part of an elite group of people.”

Minister also thanked all the partners for their who assisted in making the handover possible.
