Minister Madikizela To Launch Affordable Rental Housing in Glenhaven, Bellville

2 October 2018

On Wednesday, 3rd October, Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela will mark the launch of the Glenhaven Social Housing Project with a sod-turning ceremony.

The project will provide affordable and decent rental homes to the people of Bellville and surrounding areas. This project will serve the affordable market for people with a household income of R1 500 to R15 000 per month. In addition, all ground floor units will allow for easy mobility of disabled persons, particularly since the site was acquired from the Athlone School for the Blind Association.

Construction of the Glenhaven Social Housing project is expected to begin during October 2018 and will yield 416 units when complete. The total budget for this project is an estimated R155 million.

Glenhaven Social housing Project is ideally located in close proximity to public transport, universities, schools and economic opportunities, making it an Integrated Residential Development. The project is set to boast unique features for its future residents.

The project is estimated to be completed in December 2019.
