Human Settlements Joins 100 Homes For 100 Families Nelson Mandela Day Initiative

17 July 2018

Tomorrow,  Wednesday 18 July 2018, Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela, and the Head of Department of Human Settlements, Mr Thando Mguli will honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy by handing over houses to elderly residents in Eerste River and join Habitat for Humanity SA’s campaign to build 100 homes for 100 families in Mfuleni.

The Forest Village Housing Project is primarily targeted towards accommodating overflow beneficiaries from the N2 Phase 1 Projects as well as beneficiaries from surrounding projects. Upon completion, the project will yield 4800 housing opportunities.

The Mfuleni, Cape Town build will see various partners joining Habitat's Mandela Day initiative, including the Cape Cobras; Ajax Cape Town Football Club and DHL Stormers. The Habitat for Humanity campaign seeks to build 100 homes across Cape Town; Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal.

The provision of a secure home is one of the key elements and stepping stones to eradicating poverty. Through this initiative, Habitat for Humanity, the Department and partners aim to spend their time working together to improve the quality of life of 100 families.
