On Thursday, 09 November 2017, the National Department of Human Settlements will host the 2017 National Govan Mbeki Awards at Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The awards are to showcase excellence, best practice and healthy competition between Provincial Departments in the delivery of human settlements.
The Provincial Govan Mbeki Awards winners were announced on 11 August 2017 and will go on to represent the Western Cape at the National Govan Mbeki Awards as nominees in the various categories.
The Department would like to wish the Provincial winners the best of luck at the National Govan Mbeki Awards and hopes they will bring some awards back to the Western Cape. “We are happy and proud of our Provincial GMA winners and nominees. These housing projects have gone over and above to make a big difference to many lives in the Western Cape, ” said Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela.

Ocean View Project – City of Cape Town
Category: Best Social Housing Programme (SHP)
Belhar Gardens Project – City of Cape Town
Category: Best Rural Housing Programme
Haarlem Farm Worker Housing Project – George Municipality
Category: Best Woman Contractor
Vicmol Construction – Ms Refiloe Molele
The Department is confident that these projects and service providers will do well at the National Govan Mbeki Awards as they proved to be the best and well implemented projects in the Western Cape Province.
