On Wednesday 9 August 2017, Provincial Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela will hand over houses to elderly women in Delft.
In recognising and honouring South Africa’s women, particularly the elderly for sacrifices and contribution to the nation, one of the Department’s strategic focus areas is to ensure that the most vulnerable are prioritised for government housing support.
The oldest beneficiary to receive a house on Women’s Day is 87-year-old Nonikile Zazeka, whose health is deteriorating because of her current living conditions in a shack in Philippi East.
The Delft Precinct 3A development comprises 485 units and is intended to accommodate families from the existing Tsunami TRA in Delft, Delft backyarders, Langa backyarders, Joe Slovo informal settlement in Langa and families from areas identified for development by the City of Cape Town such as Malawi Camp, Freedom Farm, Tsunami and others.
All media is invited to attend.
